More about suggestions

The suggestions on the main page seems to be based on printing and driver quality, and printer purchase price, but ignores maintenance costs.

Experience shows that it is extremely inconvenient to have a color inkjet with combined color cartridge due to the uneven color distribution of pictures. Most HP printers contain combined cartridges and you often find yourself with an empty cyan and a full yellow or vice versa, and you keep throwing away half-full cartridges.

Other question is cost of the cartridges which may very well cost more than the printer itself. HP isn't very good at that point either, having the most expensive cartridges around (regardless of ink quality, which I cannot comment).

And avoid HP 3820, it's a braindead design, plastic thingamajigs break yearly. Or look the net very hard for problems before opt into these cheaper models. --grin 04:13, 23 March 2007 (PDT)
